M-GO needed a dedicated player on the iPad. The product decision was allow users to stream video and download purchases as an MVP, until other details could be ironed out.
The biggest challenge was giving relevant information to the user at the right time. There were rentals and TV shows that needed special treatment. Furthermore, we needed to keep the experience (language, patterns, conventions, etc) consistent with the other platforms, while other platforms were changing, and new ones being developed.
After several more traditional approaches, we landed on a simple poster grid with no little information to start, but that exposed more detailed information on user initiation. The design highlights rentals at the top and gives users clear indication of library, downloaded and ultraviolet items that are available. The app
is currently at four stars in the app store.
